We love to talk about the future of golf equipment in regard to how it will help shape the way golfers play and enjoy the game, and this week on the Fully Equipped podcast we had the opportunity to speak with Masun Denison, Global footwear director for Adidas Golf, about the future of golf performance footwear.
One of the biggest takeaways from the conversation with Masun is that the future of golf footwear is multifaceted and driven by the many individuals that play the game. Whether it be golfers driven by spiked performance, modern spikeless, or those looking for a classically styled retro crossover.
These categories all are shaped by the golfers that use them and for the ability of the design team to harness new technology and materials to make shoes that are not only comfortable, but lighter, and with performance benefits built in to fit each golfer.
“We’re excited about the growth of the game and the many new golfers coming into the sport. Styling, aesthetics, and the versatile trend about what can be worn on the golf course continue to evolve, and shoes that look more casual (but are packed with performance technology) will reach new audiences.” Masun continued, “The sneaker culture has hit golf and we will continue to see collaborations that push past just being golf”
Just as styling has evolved and drawn inspiration from other sports, golf will always be about performance at the highest level and Masun touched on that part of the game as well.
“Technology and materials innovations will continue to lead the way in what we are able to achieve and we’re always looking for what’s next.”
