Equipment changes heading into the Masters is always a great topic of conversation, and with Augusta National requiring shots that move in both directions off the tee, it’s no surprise to see TaylorMade is once again bringing a new mini driver to the market.
The original version dates back to the SLDR Mini and since then they have offered up a number of models, including the Original One, and the most recent 300 Mini Driver.
What we know
Although we don’t have any official confirmation of specs or technology, the newly spotted images on the USGA conforming list do give us some insight into what’s going on with this new club.
First up, the sole tells us that it’s a mini driver on the toe side. Secondly, we also know that based on the hosel, the new BRNR Mini Driver is adjustable — that’s the easy part.
Adding to the adjustability, there are clearly marked heavy and light weights on the sole to help with dialing in spin and launch windows. It’s not as much adjustability as the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus, but when you consider that the main goal of this club will likely be to help hit a draw off the tee, the front-to-back offers more than enough.

Lastly, based on the USGA spec sheet, which is required as part of the listing on the conforming list, we can gather a bit more information.
There is no indication that the crown is carbon fiber, although that would be counterintuitive to recent releases, so we’ll have to wait and see on that, and speaking of carbon, the face will be Zatech titanium based on the markings listed — no carbon face for the mini driver.
Zatech titanium is the same face material used in the previously mentioned TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus and other titanium fairway woods from TaylorMade dating back to the original SIM.
Whether any golfers will put this in play, especially considering the extra length added to the 13th at Augusta National, is yet to be seen, but as golfers start to get ready for the Masters this week in Austin, Texas, at the Dell Technologies Match Play, we might see at least a few being tested.
