Have you remained skeptical of the slides trend?
I can admit, I was. Despite seeing them everywhere, writing about their ubiquity, and even buying them for my kids, I had never worn a pair of slides myself, and I didn’t really understand what all the fuss was about. When it comes to casual footwear, I’ve always been more of a flip-flop or platform-heel person. Crocs — even the sparkly ones — never really appealed to me.
So when I had the opportunity to try a few styles from Lusso Cloud, I was prepared to feel the same way about them that I have felt about any other slide: I could appreciate them theory, but would likely never choose to add them into my footwear rotation.
How wrong I was!
One week in since receiving the shoes, and not a day has gone by where I haven’t worn my Lusso Clouds. They’re simply that wonderful!
As a quick aside, it should be noted that Lusso Clouds are not golf shoes. They’re more like wear-everywhere-but-the-course shoes. But I would say they’re golf-adjacent, in that they’re suitable for wear both to and from the course. And believe me, you’ll want to!
The three Lusso Cloud models I tried were the Scenario, Pelli and Rosa. Each of these models is unisex, and available in both men’s and women’s sizes in different colors and, in some cases, materials.

I found that I divvied up my pairs of Lussos into three categories: the Scenarios became my go-tos for errands and walks. The Pellis, which I have in Jet Black/Smooth Leather, offer a more elevated look (I wore those to Bingo Night at my kids’ school) while the Rosas have the thinnest-feeling sole of the three and make a perfect pool or beach shoe.
I should mention that all of these slides have a slipper-like fit, which was the intention. Lusso Cloud was founded by John Buscemi and Rob Dyrdek, and launched in 2020 with a goal of creating a line of hotel-style slippers that could actually hold up on the streets. I have to say, I think they succeeded.

As I mentioned above, I’ve worn one of these three pairs every single day since I received them, but I think I gravitate the most toward the Scenarios. They’re a bit rugged looking, with a smooth yet durable feel, and I was really impressed by the snug fit and arch support the shoe offers right out of the box.
You get all the ventilation you want in a sandal via the perforations on the top of the shoe, but your toes remain covered and protected. The IP-EVA material is lightweight and waterproof, and there’s even some integrated traction on the sole for grip on slippery surfaces.
These shoes are understated — not showy at all. And yet there is something that ignites people’s curiosity when they see them, because I’ve been asked about them no less than three times since I started wearing them only days ago. Is it the signature square perforations, the unique look, or the cool, flexible material? Perhaps all of the above. I’m just delighted to experience them and spread the word.
