TaylorMade’s latest collection of TP putters is getting the Hydro Blast treatment.
Initially introduced with Spider X — Rory McIlroy used the Hydro Blast version to win the Wells Fargo Championship — the unique silver finish is created with the help of a high-pressure water application that’s applied to the 303 stainless steel. The process adds an extra layer of durability to the body while greatly reducing the opportunity for scratches and surface blemishes related to chipping.
For golfers who might want to try something other than a Spider X in the Hydro Blast finish, TP Collection is the answer.
“We relied on precision milling and the new Hydro Blast finish to deliver an artisan look to this family of premium putters,” said Bill Price, TaylorMade’s head of product creation, putters and wedges. “Through clean aesthetics, time-honored shaping and superior feel, we’ve blended the modern with the traditional to create a new class of classic.”
The line is comprised of three blades (Del Monte 1, Del Monte 7 and Soto) and four mallets (Chaska, Bandon 1, Bandon 3 and DuPage), but it’s the double-wing Bandon that’s already garnering interest on Tour.
Tommy Fleetwood switched to the Bandon 1 at the RBC Heritage after noticing a reduction in his heel-ward mis-hits. Dustin Johnson used the putter as well in Hilton Head.
“For Tommy, the centeredness of strike was a big reason for his switch to the Bandon,” said TaylorMade Tour rep Adrian Rietveld. “The heelside miss is something he battled with his blade, and we’ve helped him develop a little more consistency with this one. Beyond that, he’s very comfortable with the shape of the putter and has said that it helps him with alignment.”
Each putter comes equipped with adjustable TP heel-toe sole weights (2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 15 and 20 grams) and a White Pure Roll insert that’s played a part in more than a dozen Tour wins since 2019. The soft surlyn material features grooves situated in a 45-degree downward angle to optimize roll consistency.
Multiple hosel (slant, L-neck and single bend) and toe hang options also are designed to fit different stroke types.
