Anser 2, Anser D and Oslo 4 are the latest additions to Ping's PLD Milled line.

The initial launch of Ping’s PLD (Putting Lab Design) line last year offered golfers the opportunity to get their hands on putters at different price points. For the full-on Tour experience, Ping unveiled the PLD Custom program that made it possible to go through a putter fitting at Ping headquarters — or online — and create a one-of-a-kind wand built to a golfer’s specifications.

The other avenue to obtain a putter was through the PLD Milled lineup, which was recently expanded to seven models with the addition of the Anser D, Anser 2 and Oslo 4. Each forged, 303 stainless steel putter undergoes four hours of milling time to shape the surface and radius of the head. Ping’s AMP (Aggressive Milling Pattern) face technology is then added to elicit a “tour-preferred” sound and feel at impact.

“We’ve been very pleased with the results and feedback across the entire program,” said Ping CEO and president John K. Solheim. “It allows us to bring golfers more of what we do best – design and build the highest-performing putters in the game. In the case of the PLD Milled line, we’re continuing to add tour-inspired models to bring golfers the latest in score-lowering performance on the green.”

The Anser D is a spin on the iconic design with a wider profile that places more mass behind the ball to stabilize the head at impact, while the Anser 2 offers a longer, slimmer profile and squared-off bumpers. The Oslo 4 combines the Oslo mallet shape with an Anser 4-style hosel that’s designed for strong-arc stroke types.

“Our intention with the PLD Milled series is to offer our most popular models from the past and add new, tour-influenced designs on a regular basis,” Solheim said. “As we collaborate on new designs with our engineers and tour staff through the PLD program, we’ll expand the line to ensure golfers have access to our newest technologies and processes.”

All three models can be purchased for $485 and come stock with either black graphite (Anser D, Anser 2) or stepless steel (Oslo 4) shaft.
