Joe Highsmith became the first golfer to make a PGA Tour cut on the number and win the same week — and it came thanks to a red-hot putter.

Highsmith made 231 feet of putts on the weekend and ended up finishing 7th in the field in Strokes Gained: Putting despite losing half a stroke on the greens over the first two days. But the lefty caught lightning in a bottle with his Titleist Scotty Cameron 009M Tour prototype putter over the weekend, and he rode it all the way to his first PGA Tour title with consecutive rounds of 64 at PGA National.

The Scotty Cameron 009M is one of Cameron’s more sought-after Tour-only models. The 009 is a classic shape, used most notably by Jordan Spieth and Cam Smith in recent years. The 009M (M stands for modernized) is an updated version that features slightly different shaping for a different optic and slightly different performance characteristics.

While it may be tough to get your hands on a 009M like Highsmith’s — they can be found on the secondary market for $5,000 or more — you can get pretty close with one of Cameron’s retail options, the latest release being the new Studio Style line announced earlier this year.

Pre-orders for Scotty Cameron’s new Studio Style collection just opened up on Fairway Jockey.

The new Studio Style line features a brand new insert made from Studio Carbon Steel and sports a unique chain-link milling pattern to make these some of the softest feeling retail releases from Cameron.

Studio Style also updates or re-introduces several new shapes to the Scotty Cameron family, but if you’re looking to get your hands on a putter just like Highsmith’s, you’ll likely want to look at the Studio Style Newport.

Scotty Cameron 2025 Studio Style putters: 4 things to know
By: Jack Hirsh

The Newport is a classic Scotty Cameron shape, very similar to the 009 and 009M with rounded edges and bumpers. For those who want a little boost in forgiveness, you may want to check out the Studio Style Newport Plus, which features a wider body and more perimeter weighting for a higher MOI.

If you prefer a more squared look at address with sharper lines, try out the Studio Style Newport 2, one of Cameron’s most famous and popular shapes. There are nine more shapes available in the line, four of which are offered for lefties, like Highsmith.

When ordering from Fairway Jockey, you can customize your new putter down to your exact specifications including choosing from a huge variety of custom putter shafts and grips.

STUDIO CARBON STEEL (SCS) FACE INSERT Designed to deliver the unmistakably soft sound and feel of carbon steel, the new precision milled Studio Carbon Steel (SCS) insert is treated with an electroless nickel plating for enhanced durability in a re–engineered concept that includes the line’s new chain–link face milling technology and aerospace–inspired vibration damping for tuned sound, feel and performance. CHAIN–LINK FACE MILLING TECHNOLOGY New chain–link face milling technology reduces the putter face insert’s touch points at impact with the ball using a texture that softens the sound and provides tour–preferred roll characteristics while preserving feel and feedback off the putter face. FULL CONTACT SLIM GRIP With a comfortable chain–link texture to match the new putter face milling pattern, the custom crafted Full Contact Slim paddle–style grip was designed to complement the stroke and performance of blade and mid–mallet putters. Its uniquely contoured profile and flat top provide superior comfort and contact between the hands and the putter, and enhanced body alignment.

PLUS DESIGN CONCEPT The Studio Style Newport Plus has an innovative, slightly wider profile than standard blade dimensions, which provides a unique, confidence–inspiring view from address and increases MOI while preserving the looks and clean alignment associated with blade putters. Plus designs are intended for players who prefer blade feel and looks at address but seek a bit more stability and confidence in their stroke.
