It’s been quite some time since TaylorMade offered a TP (Tour Preferred) line of one-piece, fully-milled putters, but refinement takes time, and with the release of the new TP Reserve line they are cementing themselves into the market of high-end premium putters.

When asked about the process of designing the TP Reserve line, Bill Price, Senior Director of product creation for putters and wedges said, “The thing we are most proud of when it comes to this new line is the attention to detail, and I believe golfers will appreciate that. From the milled transitions to the finish, and even down to the placement of graphics, we took our time to get everything right.”

“Thanks to the machining process we can stress every detail and trust that the finished product is going to be exactly what we want, putter after putter, which to us is the ultimate sign of craftsmanship.”

Now speaking of machining, something that separates the new TP Reserve line from previous milled TaylorMade putters is the machined-in groves that went through multiple variations during the research and development stage to make sure they deliver a crisp and concise impact sound.

Unlike some other putters on the market that use a variable design throughout the face, the TP Reserve grooves are the same width and depth from top to bottom and across the surface to sustain the same feel regardless of strike location.

The models

To help fit golfers, TaylorMade engineers designed four different fitting options with a combination of shaft and hosel designs specifically intended to create various levels of toe hang. These options are built into three blade and three mallet shapes to fit almost any golfer for visual preference.

To make things easy for golfers and fitters alike, each model is represented by the second number in the model name while the second number represents the hosel type; No.1 – L-Neck, No.3 – Small Slant, No.7 – Single Bend, No.9 – Flow Neck.

The models bring refinement to classic putter profiles, including a midsized mallet and a winged blade design to offer higher MOI in a more traditional-looking shape. The M2 and m3 mallets each come in two different hosel configurations to give golfers the opportunity to match their alignment style to the shape that best fits their stroke type.
