Luke List posted a final-round 66 and held off Will Zalatoris in a sudden-death playoff to win his first PGA Tour title at the Farmers Insurance Open. List added new Titleist Vokey SM9 wedges to the bag the last week in Palm Springs and opted to stick with the same bounce-and-grind combination he’s used in the past.
âHeâs been very, very consistent with his wedge setup â 50.12F, 54.14F and 60T,” Vokey Tour rep Aaron Dill said. “We built him his SM9s, he said everything looked great, we made sure everything was dialed in, and that was it. They went right in the bag.
âHe chooses the 50.12 and the 54.14, just due to the fact that he does produce a nice divot. He is a little descending with it. And then in that 60, itâs kind of the opposite. He wants to be able to open up the face, he wants to feel like he has less bounce, especially in conditions like this, where he does get some baked-out places where he needs to really have his wedge be versatile. And so for him, itâs kind of getting the best of both worlds. He needs a bunch of bounce in one club, and he needs very, very little in another. So I think that gives him the freedom to hit all the different wedge shots he needs to hit.â
