The ST in PXG’s 0317 ST Blade irons stands for “super tour” — a gentle reminder these irons aren’t geared for the mid-to-high handicapper. But don’t assume these are just another set of compact blades.

Through research and feedback from its stable of professional and collegiate players, the latest iteration of the 0317 ST Blade provides the looks better players require with an uptick in forgiveness where it’s most needed.

As opposed to creating a uniform blade look throughout, PXG opted for a “tour-inspired blended” design that pairs a cavity-back profile in the 3- and 4-irons with a muscleback profile in the rest of the set (5-GW).

Adding perimeter weighting in the long irons ensures heel and toe misses won’t see a noticeable dip in ball speed and carry distance. Placing weight lower in the head also increases launch for a more pronounced landing angle. Starting the the 5-iron, the head transitions to the solid-body design that’s geared to deliver a more controlled flight with high spin and control as the hallmarks.

While there two profiles in the iron set, both feature PXG’s precision weighting technology — a large tungsten weight located in the back of the head. The removable weight dials in center-of-gravity and can be altered by a fitter to increase or decrease swing weight for a player’s preferences.

“Our team has done their homework on these blades, taking feedback from our professional staff and college players to inform all aspects of the design, from clubhead size, offset, and sole design to a flighted trajectory,” said PXG founder and CEO Bob Parsons.

Triple forged from 8620 soft carbon steel, each head is CNC milled to detailed specifications and undergoes a robotic polishing process to ensure a consistent sole geometry throughout the set.

The 0317 ST Blade comes in two finishes ($199 per club in Chrome; $219 per club in Xtreme Dark) and is currently available in 3-iron through gap wedge.
