Our take: GOLF testers found the G710 irons to be mean-looking distance machines. “The ball just goes forever,” said one of our slower-speed testers. The performance comes packaged in a stealthy black look too. As one tester said, “It’s a mean look that could also serve a purpose by reducing sun glare.” Ping offers a range of different iron designs, but if you’re a mid- to high-handicapper searching for the ultimate in distance, the G710s are designed for you.

Thanks to a maraging steel face and stainless steel body, the Ping G710 Irons are Ping’s longest, most forgiving irons to date. The forgiveness portion of the equation is a result of the 17-4 stainless steel body, high-density tungsten toe and shaft weights, which significantly increase MOI. Additional benefits of the club heads construction include higher launch angles to produce more carry distance.

The details: As our testers noticed, Ping says its G710 irons are the longest and most forgiving irons in its lineup. To achieve this, the company combined maraging steel faces with 17-4 stainless-steel bodies that function more like metalwoods than irons. They also have tungsten weights in the toe and heel sections to expand the sweet spot for golfers who need some additional forgiveness.
