Our take: Owning an iron that keeps mishits on the map is critically important when you’re a 20-plus handicapper because, well, you know bad shots are going to happen. The goal, then, becomes finding ways to mitigate the big miss and helping you even break into the 80s. For our mid- and high-handicapped testers, Big Bertha B21 fit the bill — a smart-looking iron that can help keep the ball in play. The pronounced offset allowed some testers to draw the ball on command (for the first time!) and generate comparable distances on off-center misses.

The details: With a look reminiscent of the original Big Bertha, the new B21 is designed around a Flash Face cup design that received Callaway’s A.I. treatment, fine-tuning the thickness of the structure in specific areas to benefit golfers who don’t consistently find the center of the face. A visible tungsten energy core adds another layer of forgiveness, targeting more mass behind the lower portion of the hitting area to launch the ball high, regardless of where it impacts the face. Proprietary urethane microspheres are also strategically positioned to soak up unwanted vibrations and improve the overall feel at impact, without impacting ball speed.

Where to buy it: Click here. Or better yet, get fit for the irons by the experts at our sister company, True Spec Golf.
