The 2023 men’s major championship season had some big-name winners as well as a few surprises along the way, but no matter the event, one of the stats that helped lead these players to victory was their ball-striking and short game.

So whether it was Jon Rahm at the Masters or Brian Harman at the Open Championship, these are the irons and wedges used by the four men’s major champions of 2023.

Jon Rahm – Masters

Thanks in part to an almost flawless three-under 69 in the final round, Rahm won the Masters and his second major title. As a notorious non-tinkerer, Rahm used a set of Callaway TCB (Tour Cavity Back) irons along with Jaws forged wedges.

Brooks Koepka – PGA Championship

Although there was a time when even Koepka was doubtful of his ability to win again at the highest level, he put that doubt to pasture by winning the PGA Championship at Oak Hill.

Cleveland RTX6 ZipCore Wedges

New RTX 6 ZipCore Wedges are designed to unlock maximum spin performance across the golf course, regardless of lie. Yep, that includes the fairway, rough, sand and even in wet conditions..

A big part of Koepka’s success was due to his ability to navigate tough rough, hit greens in windy conditions and get up and down when he really needed to. He accomplished this with a set of Srixon ZX7 MKII irons and Cleveland RTX wedges.

Srixon MKII Irons

A players Iron with tour-preferred looks and the pure feel of a premium blade, offering total control — ZX7 Mk II delivers it all. Featuring a compact shape and narrow topline.

Much was made of Koepka’s switch to Srixon after years of being an equipment free agent, especially considering the deal involved switching to the Srixon golf ball. But it’s been smooth sailing since the switch, as Koepka added to his major resume by notching his fifth.

Brian Harman – Open Championship

Brian Harman and Clark have a lot more in common than simply bagging majors in 2023.

Like Clark, Harman used a set of Titleist 620CB irons along with his older Titleist U500 utility irons to navigate the windy and rainy links at Royal Liverpool. He won the Open Championship by a resounding six shots over Sepp Straka, Jason Day, Tom Kim and Rahm.

Titleist Vokey SM9 Tour Chrome Custom Wedge

$179.99
For every shot, every lie, every course, there’s a grind fit for your swing. Finding the right grind to match your swing and playing conditions will give you the best turf interaction, contact and shot performance. Master Craftsman Bob Vokey has spent decades crafting, developing and improving his tour proven grinds to fit players of all levels. Anyone can manufacture a wedge, but it takes a master to turn a piece of high-performance technology into an instrument of creative control. Bob’s six tour-proven grinds are designed to offer maximum creativity, versatility and consistency, all meticulously developed through years of working with the best players in the world. PROGRESSIVE CENTER OF GRAVITY SM9 features a progressive center of gravity (CG) throughout the lofts, which optimizes ball flight, accuracy and forgiveness. Using tapered top lines and varied hosel lengths, the Vokey R&D team has raised the height of the CG in the higher lofts, which promotes a lower, more controlled flight. The CG is also forward of the face, resulting in increased MOI, exceptional feel and a club face that simply wants to square up at impact. SPIN MILLED GROOVES SM9’s patented Spin Milled grooves are meticulously engineered through a new cutting process to maximize spin and durability. The process starts by cutting the face perfectly flat with a high-speed saw. Then every groove is individually cut based on loft and finish; low lofts (46°-54°) are designed with narrower, deeper grooves, while higher lofts (56°-62°) have wider, shallower grooves. Micro-grooves are individually cut in between grooves, which maximize spin on partial shots. A proprietary heat treatment is applied to the impact area which doubles the durability of the groove without impacting feel, making it the most durable groove in golf. The process is only complete when every Vokey wedge is 100% inspected for utmost quality and performance.

Another key piece of gear for Harman were his Titleist Vokey wedges, which helped him escape the thick rough and deep bunkers. And, considering the six-shot victory, he escaped both quite efficiently.
