Our take: Ping’s new G425 hybrids have a smoothed-out crown, and our testers appreciated the clean matte look with subtle dots for aiming. “I love the new alignment aid,” one tester said (and something that was repeated for all clubs in Ping’s new flagship wood lineup). “These are extremely sleek looking.” Players also found the G425 hybrids to launch high and go where they’re aimed, even on misfires. Isn’t that the point of rescue/ utility clubs?

The details: Hybrids are called upon for varied reasons and often from precarious lies. For those who need help finding the sweet spot, Ping stretched it out on the G425 clubface for extra forgiveness, especially on pesky thin shots hit low on the face. Also, to achieve the consistency our testers spoke of, a tungsten weight sits in the sole of the hybrids, driving weight down and launch up.

Where to buy it: Click here. Or better yet, get fit by the experts at our sister company, True Spec Golf.
