From shaft flex and weight down to loft and even hosel settings, the best players in the world don’t mess around when it comes to their golf club specs.

But one of the most underappreciated components of their clubs is their grips — and specifically how they are spec’d out.

But today we’re going to dig into that!

Below is comprehensive information on the grips specifications and tape combinations that keep Titleist tour professionals firmly attached to their clubs.

Note: The number and letter combinations below (60R, for example) represents the inside diameter of the grip in inches (i.e., 60 = .60 inches). The “R” denotes a round grip, while “X” means that the grip offers a rib or alignment aid.

Wyndham Clark

Grips: Golf Pride Tour Velvet Cord, midsized

Specs: One wrap of tape under lower, one three-quarter wrap under lower hand, one full wrap.

Will Zalatoris

Grips: Golf Pride Z Cord 58R, standard

Specs: One wrap of tape. By using a 0.580″ core grip on a shaft that is 0.600″, the final grip size is .020″ larger, making it play like a standard grip with two wraps of tape. This type of setup also makes the grip feel slightly firmer.

Jordan Spieth
