Editor’s Picks: The best apparel for the traveling golfer

This gear will keep you comfortable on the plane, and won't let you down on the course.

The scenario is far too familiar. You’ve got a tee time booked at a can’t-miss course, but not much time to spare between when your plane lands and your arrival on the 1st tee. Or, in a different way, you really want to hit some balls and loosen up off a cross-country flight. Five minutes is all you need, but that means you don’t have time to pull a new outfit out of the luggage and change.

Recently, this took place for me at Torrey Pines. Our plane landed an hour before our first tee time and I sadly wasted time waiting for my precious golf shorts and polo (which were late to arrive in baggage claim). Lesson learned (for the fourth time). For someone who travels a lot and travels for golf a lot, it’s time to invest in some travel golf clothes. The kind that are comfy enough for five hours in the same, chilly seat and perfectly hospitable to a dress code wherever the tee time is.

With that in mind, below are some ideal selections (for men and women) for your travel golf days, as you work your way through TSA security and, eventually, the back nine.
