If 2020 was the year that hoodies stirred up a healthy fashion debate in the golf world, 2021 is the year they go mainstream. I hope so, at least.
The only problem? Not all hoodies are created equal. Your basic off-the-rack sweatshirt might not be course-ready. Some hoodies are fashionable but not functional. Others are functional but ugly. The sweet spot? You’ve come to the right place.
As a new resident of the Pacific Northwest, I’ve found that you can pretty much play golf in any weather, provided you dress appropriately. A hoodie makes for a perfect layering item; if the temperature drops or the rain starts, you can always add a jacket over the top. But the key to a golf hoodie is that is doesn’t restrict your swing.
I’ve been playing a ton in the gray Lululemon number you can find below. Tyrrell Hatton won a European Tour event in the Adidas hoodie below that, and the Nike hoodie will help you max out your performance no matter the conditions. The pieces from Linksoul and Devereux combine fashion with function in a particularly winning way.
So check ’em out! It’s the year of the hoodie, after all. Don’t get left behind.
