The bio on Mike Bergemann’s instagram account says all you need to know about Push Cut Customs: “Handmade in my basement while my kid naps.” That’s technically true.

When the 34-year-old from Milwaukee, Wis., has time to work up a custom headcover, it’s usually during nap time. It’s the only free minute he has while holding a full-time job for a large Milwaukee hospital system. Using a sewing machine that once belonged to his mother-in-law, Bergemann has turned Push Cut into a rising star in the headcover business.

After buying more Masters apparel than he’d like to admit during a trip to Augusta in 2018—we’ve all been there—he wanted to find a way to remember the experience. So he made a headcover out of a towel from the event. The idea stuck.

Nowadays, he’s making one-of-a-kind headcovers for customers out of special pin flags, Patagonia jackets, golf gloves—anything really—to commemorate his customers’ biggest moments on and off the course.

The covers cost between $40 and $50 (he fields requests through his @pushcutcustom Instagram account) and require the customer to send in the item they want Bergemann to work his magic on.
