When the LPGA Tour restarted a few weeks back, caddies became optional for players, and local caddies were no longer permitted to enter the LPGA bubble. Lindsey Weaver — who typically opts for local caddies — has instead become her own caddie, settling for her trusty push cart during her rounds. And when she got herself into contention at last week’s Women’s British Open, her caddie-on-wheels became all the more noticeable.
We’re not used to watching the pros rake their own bunkers or calculate their own numbers. Carrying (or in this case, pushing) their own bag is even more unheard of, particularly in a major championship. Alas, maybe the pros are just like us, after all.
