Finding the right driver head for your game is only one part of the equation. The other is pairing it with a shaft that accentuates the best parts of your driver head — and golf swing. Assuming your preferred launch window is somewhere in the middle with a lower-than-average spin rate, Graphite Design’s Tour AD HD shaft could be a viable dance partner.

As you’d expect with a shaft that goes by the name “Hyper Drive” (HD), ball speed increases are expected with the new Tour AD HD. The premium shaft features a firm butt and midsection, along with a “firm-plus tip” that’s designed to generate a slightly more penetrating launch and lower spin rate.

Although the shaft is on the firmer end of the spectrum, it still offers a smooth feel due to the Torayca M40X carbon-fiber material extending from the midsection to the tip, an Torayca T1100G carbon-fiber specifically located in the tip section. Utilizing premium materials allows the shaft to withstand stresses and deformation at high swing speeds for improved stability and control.

The aerospace-quality carbon fiber materials also make it possible for Graphite Design to build shafts ranging from a feathery 40 grams up to 80 grams without having to worry about performance or production issues.

Graphite Design’s Tour AD HD shaft (white and light blue colorway) retails for $379.
