As a newish member of the push-cart brigade, it’s been fun to test various models over the last several years, and I have truly liked them all. It probably helps that I don’t consider myself an overly picky person. Prior to adopting push carts a few years ago, I was accustomed to dragging pull-carts (gasp!) or schlepping my bag on my back. Let’s be honest — just about anything feels like an upgrade compared to that.
My “essentials” list for a quality push cart is relatively short: easy portability, maneuverability and stability. That’s pretty much it! Anything else is a pure bonus. That’s why I am so impressed with my latest cart from Clicgear. The new Model 4.5 is brimming with extras that make the cart feel extra premium.

What I loved about the Clicgear Model 4.5 push cart
One thing I’ve noticed about other push carts I’ve tried is the fact that extras like storage, cupholders and the like tend to be, in fact, extra. Meaning, you have to purchase those “attachment accessories” separately. Not so with the Clicgear Model 4.5! There are several convenient and appreciated inclusions.
Storage
I primarily play public golf on courses that don’t offer locker space. So, I tend to take my purse with me while I play, and this has caused a problem in the past. There’s generally nowhere to put it on a push cart, so I just end up hanging it on my bag. But my small crossbody bag managed to fit snugly in the mesh storage compartment under the handle of the Clicgear Model 4.5, so that was a plus. There’s also a plastic console with a latch-lid that could easily accommodate a standard-size wallet and keys.
The best part was the integrated phone holder, which is specially designed to amplify sound. If you’re a GPS-app user, this is an especially awesome feature, since it holds the phone upright and securely in place throughout your round.
The included cupholder is also much appreciated but sadly wasn’t large enough to easily accommodate my oversized Stanley. In Arizona, where I live, insulated cups are life, so I will likely need to downgrade to a sleeker water bottle or simply use a disposable Styrofoam cup in the future.
I don’t use a handheld rangefinder, but players who do will likely appreciate the magnetic and hook-and-loop storage options on the console for easy access to these devices.
There’s also an umbrella holder that is affixed to the handle — something I didn’t use but should probably consider, especially when playing in these unbearably hot Arizona summers.
Sturdy straps
Some players may prefer bungee closure but I absolutely loved the security offered by the thick silicone straps on the top and bottom of the cart. My bag didn’t budge!
Movement, portability and adjustability
The Model 4.5 is a little intimidating straight out of the box. The printed instructions on how to unfold and fold the cart were difficult for me to visualize, but a video on the Clicgear website is really helpful. In three steps, you can collapse and construct the cart. It gets easier with practice. I recommend doing it a few times before bringing the cart to the course.
While this cart isn’t the smallest or lightest cart I’ve ever used, it does feel sturdy and premium, and I really liked having the ability to adjust the push handle height. Even my grade-school daughter could set the handle in a position that allowed her to push the cart comfortably.
The three wheels are nimble, and the ride is smooth. I didn’t notice any instability or top-heaviness either, even after stuffing the handle’s storage box and mesh compartment with purse and other items.
The final verdict: If you’re a walking golfer who appreciates having a secure place to store all of your accessories and gadgets — and a sturdy, foldable cart that slides into your trunk, the Clicgear Model 4.5 is a true winner, and I’m looking forward to enjoying it for seasons to come.
