With the help of Golf Laboratories’ swing-robot, GOLF’s 2023 ClubTest continues to deliver robotic testing insights on the newest equipment releases. We continue our fairway wood insights with the 5 models designed for launching it high. And click here to get the full rundown on every fairway wood for ’23.

As swing speed and distance go hand in hand. When your pop takes a hit, that generally means more club into the hole on the next shot. It can also come with a reduction in launch angle as well that few take into consideration. Unless your clubs are equipped with the correct shaft and head, chances are good the launch isn’t optimized either. Matching up speed and launch is one way to combat a loss in carry distance.

For golfers who need help getting the ball in the air — and it’s generally slower swingers — high-launch fairway woods deserve strong consideration. During our robotic testing (95 mph), 5 offerings stood out from the pack with towering launch angles. Check them out below. (Note: The launch angle is an average of 18 balls struck out of the geometric center, high toe and low heel.)
