The importance of creating equipment for everyone | Fully Equipped

A discussion on the release of PXG’s new Gen 6 metalwoods and irons turned into an opportunity to discuss how far golf clubs have come in the last few decades on GOLF’s Fully Equipped podcast — particularly for women.

Women-specific clubs, such as TaylorMade’s Kalea, exist in the space and offer up a worthy blend of cosmetics and technology designed for a group of golfers who have gotten the short end of the stick in terms of quality equipment over the years.

But things have been changing in recent years, thanks in large part to an increase in technology (launch monitors) that makes it easier than ever to properly fit a golf club for both genders.

“The line always went towards cosmetics more than performance because we didn’t have a lot of the metrics we have now,” said Golf Laboratories founder Gene Parente. “Now that we have data, who cares what your gender is. All we care about is how fast you’re swinging and how to optimize your conditions.”

The latest line of clubs from PXG is a perfect example of a product that fits everyone. With a proper fitting and build, the options open up in a big way.
