5 drivers to help you fix a slice, according to robot testing

ZX5 MKII Srixon

Srixon's ZX5 MKII has built-in slice correction that comes in handy on the course.

So you want to eliminate that pesky slice off the tee. Linking up with a knowledgeable instructor is a surefire way to help straighten out one of the most common misses. Another option is taking a closer look at the driver in your bag. If it’s an adjustable offering, moving weight around and reconfiguring the loft sleeve could make a world of difference.

But what if, unbeknownst to you, the driver in you’re bag is designed for a fade instead of a draw shot shape? It could make things that much harder to get rid of your slice. If you didn’t know by now, manufacturers have been developing draw-biased drivers with the help of offset and weighting in the heel to help straighten out even the biggest miss.

As we saw during recent robotic testing with Golf Laboratories’ swing robot, there’s a crop of drivers out there that can definitely help you straighten out your slice. Below are five models worthy of additional testing.

Srixon ZX5 MK II Custom Driver

Featuring a larger footprint, flattened shape, and higher skirt—along with a single, adjustable, 8g rear weight placed low and deep—ZX5 Mk II combines heightened forgiveness, sharp looks, and exceptional swing feel ideal for gorgeous drives that launch straight, high, and go the distance. REBOUND FRAME Rebound Frame’s Dual Flex Zones focus more energy into the golf ball at impact, creating a purer energy transfer that instantaneously increases ball speed and distance on every strike. ADJUSTABILITY The ZX5 Mk II comes equipped with one 8g sole weight placed low and deep in the head. An adjustable hosel also provides the opportunity to vary loft, lie, and face angle STAR FRAME CROWN A complex series of ridges and latticework provides the structural integrity necessary to feature a remarkably thin titanium crown and to place discretionary mass where it best suits each ZX Mk II Driver’s ideal launch and spin characteristics. VARIABLE THICKNESS FACE An intricate variable thickness pattern expands the high COR area across the entire clubface. These unique ridges enhance high COR from heel to toe by improving how energy reflects into the ball on off-center shots.
