Hideki Matsuyama cruised to victory at the Masters on Sunday at Augusta National, earning himself his first-ever major championship title.
When it comes to his equipment, Matsuyama is unique in his preparation. He tests numerous drivers, wedges and putters prior to every event he plays in. It’s not uncommon to see Matsuyama’s bag full of 20+ clubs during practice round days on Monday-through-Wednesday. That means his clubs and shafts often change week-to-week.
This week at the Masters, the Srixon-staffer gamed a Srixon ZX5 driver, equipped with a familiar Graphite Design Tour AD-DI shaft that he’s used throughout his professional career. He fills out his bag with a TaylorMade fairway wood, a TaylorMade driving iron, Srixon irons, Cleveland wedges, a Scotty Cameron prototype putter and a Srixon golf ball.
