KEY TECHNOLOGIES: Three sole grinds can be matched to your swing and playing conditions.

PLAYABILITY: Dependable wedges that give you multiple ways to play every shot; the maneuverable blade lets testers’ imaginations run wild, while the cavity back is easy to use and accurate—just keep your asks simple; medium-launch, high-rpm combo has guys getting bold from the rough; plenty of bounce options to go around.
DISTANCE CONTROL: Generates lots of spin—full shots come in humming and chips check up from most reasonable lies; consistency is its calling card—the cavity-back masks misses as well as any wedge; sketchy contact still gets close to the hole.
FEEL: Fluid and focused at impact; the blade is more responsive and acrobatic, while the larger cavity back has a huge sweet spot and a super-damp ride through misses; the ball seems to compress and linger on the face; both clubs have a solid, stable weight distribution.
LOOK: Nice contemporary update on a timeless Cleveland profile; testers like the slim blade and slightly beefed-up cavity back; the milling marks and furrows on the face look like they can spin the heck out of the ball.

The blade demands good contact and punishes noncommittal effort—best for players with a resolute short game; cavity back serves its purpose, but has a shallower bag of tricks—don’t expect miracle shots; some say they could use something in between the two.

BOTTOM LINE: One of the best wedges tested. The 588 RTX 2.0 puts a super-spinny, precise face on a tried-and-true head profile. These two purpose-built models fit a range of abilities and playing conditions.
