Sun Mountain Sports has been around the game of golf for a hot minute. I remember when I got into golf, the easiest bag to find and recognize was a Sun Mountain C130 cart bag. I’ve ended up with four or five of them over the years, each in a different color or a collaboration with another one.
My favorite bag of all time might be the Under Armour C130 that I used for years before finally retiring it. You can still see that bag in the background of all of the Fully Equipped podcasts that I film at home.
More recently though, Sun Mountain has been leaning more into the limited/special edition market, and they are absolutely knocking it out of the park (no pun intended). They’ve signed Joel Dahmen as a PGA Tour athlete, created a special major bag for Matthew Fitzpatrick, and continue to collaborate with brands outside the game of golf including the likes of Victus and Marucci, but there’s one bag that I can’t take my eyes off right now: the Sun Mountain Hometown USA.
The Sun Mountain Sports Hometown USA is a bag created for the USA 250 celebration this year. This naturally waxed canvas bag was designed with navy and red accents and is finished off with subtle gold accents on some of the logos, as well as the ring that everyone ends up attaching their towels and rangefinders to. The bag features seven different pockets including a magnetic rangefinder pouch, a lined valuables pouch and an insulated cooler pouch. You’ll notice a tag that states which bag you have out of the limited 1776 that were made in celebration of the anniversary, as well as a nice patch on the back to showcase the USA 250 theme of the bag.

The bag has a four-way top with dividers that run the entire length for easier organization and less time spent having to deal with getting clubs in and out of the bag.
“Hometown USA was created to honor America’s 250th anniversary through the lens of golf,” said Grant Lordan, senior director of marketing and brand strategy for Sun Mountain Sports. “From the waxed canvas construction to the individually numbered design, every detail reflects craftsmanship, durability and the traditions that connect generations of golfers. It’s a bag built to be carried, used and appreciated for years to come.”
The waxed canvas is made from 100% copper, and it feels and looks ridiculously good in person. It’s a tamed color-way that makes you appreciate the heritage that comes with the red, white and blue theme. The zipper pulls and pockets have some nice “vintage” leather accents, and as a whole the bag just screams old school classic Americana. It feels like more like it was crafted by a “Main Street America” craftsman than a global sporting goods brand.
The bag retails for $450.00 USD. If you’re interested in picking one up, they are still available in stores but as a limited offering, there’s no telling how many are left!
