He’s a cool guy who’s always been there for you. Maybe he even taught you how to swing a club.
With Father’s Day approaching, you’ll want to raise a glass to him. Or better yet, a bottle. Here are five of my favorite spirited gifts for dad.
Grey Goose Vodka, $24.99
Whether it’s a post-round Transfusion, or a Bloody Mary at the turn, vodka and golf go great together. Grey Goose produces a beautiful portfolio, with wonderful flavors and essences. Appealing gift packages are available, too.
Bacardi 10 Year Gran Reserva Diez Rum, $39.99
Aged in American White oak barrels and filtered through charcoal, this rum is complex and smooth, like your putting stroke. Enjoy this one on the rocks!
Bombay Sapphire Gin, $26.99
Gin is a spirit of a thousand profiles. This London dry gin is a crowd pleaser, with a light juniper finish that makes it a pleasant summer sipper when mixed with high-quality tonic water.
Patron Tequila, $59.99
The versatility of tequila has helped make it the fasting-growing spirit on the market. Patron Silver is one of my favorites. I love mixing it with fresh strawberries and blueberries, vanilla simple syrup and club soda. Add a dash of black pepper, and Dad will be all over this like honeybees on blue agave.
Dewar’s 12-Year, $24.49
Single malt Japanese whiskey has been all the rage for years, and with good reason. But I think that blended scotch whisky gets overlooked. Dewar’s 12 is wonderful in a highball, or one of my favorite cocktails, the Rusty Nail. See recipe below.
How to make a Rusty Nail
-1 1/2 oz Dewars 12 Scotch
-.75 oz Drambuie
In a mixing glass with ice, add scotch and Drambuie, then stir until well chilled.
